 The History Pockets line of books is a wonderful resource. They fit very well with nearly any history you may be doing, as they cover a wide range of time periods. You can choose to only the parts that suit you or all of it. These are great for a wide age range of children.  Visit your local symphony. Often local symphonies will have free or very affordable performances for school groups, including homeschool. The fiddle is often played in the Kirsten books. The only difference between a violin and a fiddle is the way that it is played.
