These are great crafts for a homeschool group. I was able to get our kits for a reasonable price at Joann’s and Michael’s craft stores. I went several times and used high value coupons. Keep in mind the kits often do not come with the hook tool – but those are very inexpensive. You can also find some lower priced kits on this site. There is also a pattern and instructions in the craft book for Addy. **This item is available on multiple websites at different prices - please see the links below. Latch Hook Kit |

Field Trips |
This is by no means an exhaustive list. Please take the time to search your area for places that fit the study and would appeal to your children. The list below indicates field trip suggestions that can be done in any part of our country (some longer driving may be required), as well as field trips listed by area, if I have first-hand knowledge of great field trip locations. If you have a suggestion you would like to share, please send me an email. |

What child doesn’t love a train ride! The Tennessee Valley Railroad in Chattanooga hosts field trips. Check the website for details as they have fewer runs in the spring months. Nashville, TN Area - Train Ride |

Abe Lincoln’s boyhood home and birthplace are both in Kentucky, but it really is not that far from Nashville. A good day trip. Kentucky Area - Abe Lincoln's boyhood home and birthplace |

By far one of the best museums we have ever been to. The National Civil Rights Museum was such a great experience. We made a day trip from Nashville to do both the Slave Haven and the Civil Rights Museum. Since we were there, we wanted to do both. This museum is now part of the hotel that Martin Luther King Jr. was killed in. There is an excellent museum across the street that is included in the admission to the National Civil Rights Museum that is dedicated to the shooting and theories behind it. It is suggested that this second museum is the place where the shooter made his shot. I do wish we had a little more time, as they close at 5pm. Keep in mind that they are not open on Tuesdays. Memphis, TN Area - Civil Rights Museum |
|
If you live in Indiana, the Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial would be a great place to visit. They have a Jr. Ranger program for kids as well as educational information you can download. Indiana Area - Lincoln Boyhood National Museum |
|
The Abe Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum is an amazing museum, well worth a visit. Take your time because there is much to see. They do offer field trips, educational programs, and a free educator pass available on their website. Illinois Area - Abe Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum |
|
Abe Lincoln’s New Salem is a reconstruction of the village where Abe spent his early years. This would make a great education vacation. They offer camping on the grounds. Also, they have quite a few educational programs. Certainly a great experience. Illinois Area - Abe Lincoln's New Salem |
|
The National Freedom Center is well worth a day trip. They have special age appropriate tours. See their website for additional information. Keep in mind they are closed Sunday and Monday. Cincinnati, OH Area - National Underground Railroad Freedom Center |
